World Blood Donor Day
In celebration of the World Blood Donor Day, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in El Salvador, carried out different awareness activities as part of the Integral Program” Life is in the Blood.
The program has as goal to contribute to the formation of a culture of voluntary, altruist and regular safe blood donation.
The principal purpose of the blood drives is that of making the citizens aware about the importance of being a voluntary and regular donor, as a socio-cultural and altruistic contribution based on the principle of love for life.
Visit to Megavision
On June 12 and 13 the installations of the group Megavision (national tv channel 21of San Salvador) opened their doors to volunteers of the GEAP in the programs “Exit” and Arriba mi gente”, where they offered interviews about the World Blood Donor Day.
Through these programs the volunteers invited the Salvadorian population to become regular blood donors.

Feast for the voluntary donors
In order to pay homage to the voluntary donors, on Wednesday, June 14, the Activists for Peace carried out a dinner to celebrate this altruist act.
During the celebration the participants reaffirmed their compromise to continue in the blood donation program. The activity ended with delivery of acknowledgments to each donor.
Forum for a solidary culture
Continuing with the activities, on June 16 the GEAP made an appearance at the forum "Importance of Voluntary Altruistic Blood Donations", an event organized by the Ministry of Health of El Salvador, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health Services, Julio Ticas; the representative of WHO and PAHO, Hernán Luque; and the coordinator of the National Network of Blood Banks, Maryuri Villatoro.
During the forum, presentations were made highlighting the importance of voluntary donation to have sufficient reserves and cover emergencies in health care centers.
To conclude, acknowledgments were given to outstanding donors and commitment tables were established with all the parties involved (blood banks, companies, universities, donors).
To complete the series of activities for World Blood Donor Day, the GEAP attended the meeting room of the Salvadoran Red Cross on June 24 to celebrate this altruistic action together with this international movement.
Both organizations met in order to strengthen the work in favor of the promotion of a voluntary donation culture, as well as to increase the active and effective participation of the citizens.
In the development of each of these activities, the GEAP promotes solidarity, respect for human dignity, improvement of the quality of life, social justice, peace and the integral happiness of the human family.
